The kids love to play the xbox. They would sit there all day long playing it if I let them. Don't worry though... I don't let them. :)

Day 89 - Quick Dinner
So yeah, not my best cooking moment when we decided to spring for pizza at Sam's club before quiz practice tonight!

Day 88 - "R" Storytime
Carsten enjoys going each week to our local library's version of Preschool Storytime. Today, the Letter of the Day was "R" - so all stories and songs and fingerplays had to do with things that said "arrrr" - said in a pirate's voice, of course!
Here they are singing "Row, Row, Row Your Boat!"
P.S. - The way kids sit cracks me up. Never in a million years could I sit like that! My knees and hips would be screaming at me right away if I even attempted it!

Day 87 - Happy Birthday to my love!
And today, it's Josh's birthday. We went out to the local Hibachi Grill to celebrate - yum! I love you babe! Happy 31st!

Day 86 - Dana's 28!
My sister turned 28 today! I know it sounds cliché, but I really do remember the day she was born. This is her first birthday as a Mom. Happy birthday, Dana!

Day 85 - Scrub-A-Dub
My in-laws invited us over for dinner tonight. I knew we'd be there late, so I decided to bring stuff for the kids to get washed up while we were there instead of trying to do it when we got home.
What a bunch of goofs they are!

Day 84 - My Four
Daddy finally returned tonight after being in Pittsburgh for a business trip. He said he had a great time in his super nice hotel. Here he's showing the kids pictures of his room.

Day 83 - Workin' Together
Tyrus' writing assignment today was to list a bunch of details about an imaginary monster. He was then supposed to give his detailed list to someone else so they could in turn draw what he described. Alexis worked hard on drawing it exactly right. (It's nice to see them work together instead of fight, let me tell you!)

Day 82 - Perfection
It's on a very rare occasion that I get that one perfect picture. And you know what's wild about that? Today, I got TWO of them!

Day 79 - Sunday Sundae
We went to the local Chinese Buffet today. Carsten tolerated his food at best, knowing he had to eat "good food" first, if he wanted to have any ice cream. Well, the time finally came and he and his daddy went up to get some ice cream. Do you think he's happy about it?

Day 78 - Quiz Tourney #2
We hosted the Junior Quizzers at our church today! It was fun to not have to drive this time, but we spent the same amount of time setting up and tearing down! The kids did a great job again - taking First Place once again.
I'm proud of my babes!

Day 77 - Knitting
I was asked the other day if Tyrus would like to learn how to knit during the specials portion of his 3rd grade connections class. I asked him (thinking he'd say no) but he said that he'd love to learn how.
Check him out - he's knitting!
Here is the Knitting Verse they taught the kids:
Under the fence
Catch the sheep
Back we come
Off we leap!

Day 76 - Green Day
We celebrated St. Patty's today by heading out to Texas Roadhouse. I'm still not feeling 100% yet, so even though we were all dressed in green and looked really cute, I only have this one lame picture to document the day. Yikes.

Day 75 - Tulips
There's nothing quite like coming home to see that someone has sent you something, and it's waiting for you on your door step. My sweet childhood friend sent me the most gorgeous bouquet of tulips today... it made my heart smile. Thank you, Lexi!

Day 74 - Groceries
Tonight, Carsten piped up from the back seat, "wow, that car sure has a lot of groceries!" Uhhhh.... sometimes it's just easier not to explain things, you know?

Day 73 - Study Time!
It's time to learn the quiz verses again tonight...! Josh is working with Alexis here and Ty's doing his cards. The fact that they are learning the word of God makes my heart happy!
Sunday, March 13, 2011
Day 72 - Oldest and Youngest
Here is the oldest cousin holding the youngest cousin tonight. Don't they look so cute in their matching shirts? (And no, we didn't plan to have them match, either!)

Day 71 - Loving Reading!
So for awhile, I've "made" Tyrus read a non-school book for at least 20 minutes per day with the hopes that he'd get hooked and realize how fun it is to read. Well, it's worked!

Day 70 - Special Delivery
The doorbell rang today, and it totally freaked me out as I wasn't expecting anyone. I'm not moving too quickly, so I made it to the door as best as I could. Look at what my sweet sister-in-law sent me! It's an Edible Arrangement of fruit. It is almost too beautiful to eat!
It brought tears to my eyes. So many people have been so generous and thoughtful during this time. I am overwhelmed with their kindness. Thank you all!

Day 69 - Sick, Sick, Sick
I tell you, we're an interesting bunch right now! I'm still pretty weak on my feet (which I haven't been on much, by the way), and now Carsten and Alexis are both under the weather. I feel so bad for them! Thankfully, Tyrus and Josh are feeling just fine so they've both be able to help care for the rest of us.

Day 68 - Home, Sweet Home
I was released from the hospital today. I'm still weak, but I'm happy to be home. My girl is sick, too, so we took the opportunity to rest together.

Day 67 - Heart Ablation
My heart has raced to really high rates for a long time now. Today was the day I finally got it fixed. My husband was such a solid rock of support through out the whole thing. I could not have done it without him.

Day 66 - Hiccups
Tonight, at dinner, Josh got the hiccups. He started to hold his breath, thinking it would help the hiccups go away. Well, he puffed his cheeks out so funny it made us all laugh, so of course, I had to run and get the camera...

Day 65 - Enchilada Dinner
Our Senior and Junior Quiz Teams sold Enchiladas today at church as a fundraiser for our teams. We had lots of hands on deck...! I think they mostly liked the plastic gloves they got to wear!
Saturday, March 5, 2011
Day 64 - Night, Night!
Carsten wanted to make sure I tucked his toys into bed tonight with him. Cookie Monster, a Little People Airplane Girl, and a chunk of Legos.

Day 62 - Sleepy Cuddles
I don't want my kids to be sick, but I do love it when they want to cuddle with me. Carsten has been fighting a cold today and yesterday, and Tyrus is fighting a fever right now. They both tried to get on my lap a few minutes ago! Carsten won, apparently, because he's still here!
Wednesday, March 2, 2011
Day 61 - Shaq Shoe
It was time to get Josh some new shoes. While we were in the store, Tyrus noticed this huge shoe by the display area. The salesman said it was the size Shaquille O'Neal wears - a 22! Wow!
Tuesday, March 1, 2011
Day 60 - ABC Order
Today, Alexis' phonics lesson was all about putting things in ABC order (my writing is in red, hers is in blue). She caught on super quick, and when I showed her how to use the dictionary, she was fascinated!
